Great New Ways To Wear Graphic Tees

Graphic t-shirts are everywhere, and are probably one of the most popular wardrobe items on store shelves today. Comfortable, trendy and available in thousands of designs, people practically live in them. But even with so many choices, it seems the graphic tee is destined to be paired with skinny jeans forever.

Fortunately, there are some ways to spice up the graphic tee without looking like a clone. One of the fastest growing recent trends is to wear them with long skirts. The possibilities here are almost endless, as the choice in t-shirt graphics ranges from whimsical to sophisticated. A tee can be paired with a contrasting or dominant color for high drama, or totally mismatched for a more artsy and playful look.

A close fitting tee is great with a long skirt that clings slightly and flares at the bottom. For those who prefer a less restrictive look, an oversized tee looks great with a simple skirt, whether it is belted with a scarf or tied at the side. Graphic tee dresses that flare look fantastic with a tapered or straight skirt, as well as with boot-cut pants.

Another option is to dress up the t-shirt with a long denim vest, especially one decorated with graphics or other accents. Sleeveless trench coats with tees are also a way to look a bit dressier and for those times when you need to appear more “grown up” and still make a fashion statement.

For fun looks and nights out at clubs, wear graphic tees with tiered mini skirts and some dressy flats. Colorful sneakers also complete the t-shirt/miniskirt ensemble, especially if the color matches the graphics. With so many possibilities, it’s hard not to have fun with graphic tees.

Drop Dead Clothing: One of Today’s Hottest Fashion Lines

Popular with teens and the under-30 crowd, the Drop Dead clothing brand is one of the hipster crowd’s must-haves. Founded in 2005, the line has evolved from a few graphic t-shirts to a full fashion line including jackets, hoodies, swimsuits and skinny jeans.

Managing the Drop Dead brand is the sideline for Oliver Sykes, the lead singer for the band Bring Me The Horizon, who started the clothing company when he was a design student. Known for its awesome graphics, the brand gained momentum among young music fans, and has even been spotted on other bands such as A Day To Remember. The very first Drop Dead shirts were actually Sykes’ first tour merchandise products.

What makes the Drop Dead label special is the quality and intricacy of the graphics. Inspired by the “emo” style, Drop Dead adds depth and vibrant colors to its product line. Making a frequent appearance is their “kitty” logo and backgrounds that range from super-cute to horror-like.

Popular items in this product line include the oversized t-shirts for girls. A cross between a dress and a shirt, they are hipster staples with skinny jeans and Van’s sneakers. Guy’s shirts range from the ever-present kitty and monster motifs to bold letters and gory renditions. All are available in non-traditional colors including hot pink, purple and turquoise, as well as the traditional emo color, black.

Drop Dead is based in Stocksbridge, England, but ships worldwide, much to the delight of their dedicated American fan base. Among the pierced and tattooed crowd, a Drop Dead shirt is both a status symbol and a wardrobe staple.

Textures Are In For Fall Fashion

Some of the fun things about fall fashions are the opportunity for dark colors, heavier fabrics and more layers. This fall will be no exception, and most fashion insiders predict that the most dominant trend will be in textures.

Runway

Two of the places that will see the most dramatic uses of this trend are shoes and leg wear. Plain leather and cloth are out for fall. Instead, expect to see velvet, embossed leather, reptile skins, fake fur, and lots of embellishments on shoes. Sequins, beads and other metallic trims will be seen on everything from pumps to flats. Shoes made from a combination of materials such as leather and suede, animal print trim, and metal heels. Don’t expect to see any boring shoes on fashion runways this fall.

The interest in textured leg wear will also continue, especially patterned nylons, fishnets, and embroidered tights. These will range from wild crocheted patterns to lace net and metallic styles. For career wear, women will have plenty of choices in muted pinstriped stockings, pin dots, and subtle patterns in opaque tights. Animal prints will also be prominent in leg wear, with some designers incorporating fur and feather patterns into the weave.

Outerwear will also feature rich textures. Loosely woven wool, brocades, velvets and dimensional fabric will be in everything from coats to handbags. Sweaters that resemble hand-knits, fringe trims and chunky and fuzzy yarns will make sweater season a treat for the senses this fall. Satin will also play a big part, and although the fabric is smooth, the surface reflects light. This makes shadows seem deeper than they really are, and will make this fall’s oversized jackets look rich and luxurious.
